This Saturday Thirsk Ladies 1st hosted a home game against mid table side Leeds Uni 3rds. The last time the two teams met, Leeds emerged victorious. Motivated to succeed after last weeks away match, the 1st team had a point to prove. From the outset of the game they came out fighting, pressure from the forward line had Leeds defence on their back foot from the word go. Leeds strove to break through Thirsk's midfield line, but strong linking play from Ella Durkin, Grace Walker and Annabel Hill kept them at firmly at bay.
The half time whistle sounded with Thirsk in the lead by a two goal margin.
As the second half commenced so did the flurry of goals. Skipper Hannah Rogers and diverse powerhouse Bea Bell bagged themselves two goals a piece within quick succession of each other.
After a sly word from their coach, a slick short corner routine resulted in Thirsk scoring their 7th goal of the match.
Silky skills showcased from striker Megan Allen earned herself a well deserved place on the day's score sheet too.
Unfortunately Thirsk's focus faltered 5 minutes towards the end of the match, and Leeds used this opportunity to capitalise and score their one and only goal of the game.
Final score of the day was 8-1 in Thirsk's favour, taking them to a total of 10 games unbeaten. Scorers were Bea Bell 2, Hannah Rogers 2, Megs Allen 1, Millie Simenacz 1, Olivia Smerdon 1 and Sophie Lake 1. Player of the match was awarded to Megan Allen.
