The game was played in a way that was a credit to both sides.- Kate Webster-Jones
Thirsk started the game off brightly, creating early chances but they couldn't apply the finishing touches. Leeds broke the deadlock with a textbook short corner strike, which was quickly followed by a shot that looped over Marianne in the Thirsk goal, giving her no chance. Bev Petty had a good first time strike saved by the Leeds keeper. Both sides were well matched but there was no more goals before halftime.
The second half started off at the same fast pace with both sides creating chances but Leeds were the more clinical side, scoring 3 more goals without reply from Thirsk.
I think a harsh lesson was learnt, that when chances come along you have to take them at this level. The game was played in a way that was a credit to both sides, hard but fair and with respect.
Player of the match was split between Sheryl and 2nds debutante Emma, playing her 1st competitive game for 2 yrs.
