This promised to be a tight affair and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
Leeds started off very brightly and opened the scoring after 5 mins with a short corner. Thirsk started to get going and equalised after 20 mins with a short corner routine deflected in at the far post by Connie Gill. Leeds scored a 2nd goal shortly after then a 3rd arrived right on halftime, against the balance of play with Thirsk playing some really nice hockey.
The 2nd half started with Thirsk pushing for goals and were rewarded after 10 mins when Lynn scored from a short corner with a great strike. The Thirsk defence were holding strong when Thirsk had another short corner which neatly dispatched by Tilly Pern. Thirsk pushed for a winner but unfortunately Leeds got a lucky break and scored a 4th goal. Thirsk continued to win short corners but unfortunately Leeds defended for their lives and an equaliser never arrived. So the match ended with 4-3 defeat for Thirsk. This was our 3rd defeat by the narrowest of margins, something the girls didn’t deserve.
