Ladies 2nds v Colne Valley

This was a game against one of our close rivals in the league so a positive result was necessary.
The girls started off playing really good hockey, good passing game, keeping the width and creating chances but midway thru the half Colne scored from a well worked short corner. Thirsk kept up the pressure creating plenty of chances and eventually equalised just before half time. After good work by Millie and Bev, their keeper made a great save but Lerae was on hand to score off the rebound.
1-1 was a fair score at half time. With Bethany, Georgie, Oona, Kate, Hattie and Lynne defending strongly ably backed up by Molly Disbury in goal if they broke thru.
The 2nd half started much the same again with both sides creating but missing chances, with both goalies making crucial saves, A draw looked on the cards until 2 minutes from time a breakaway by Millie, who fed Bev on the top D, who made no mistake with a thumping hit into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance.
Thirsk had got the win they thoroughly deserved which brought them above their opposition into 7th place in League 2.
