Sunday 13th November saw the North Yorkshire Mini Hockey Championship for the U12 girls being played at Thirsk Hockey Club. Neither Northallerton or Harrogate could get teams out but thankfully York and Thirsk came to the rescue by both fielding 3 teams each. So there was plenty of hockey with every team playing each other in 15 minute matches.
The top two teams go through to the Yorkshire round so we were keen to try and get two Thirsk teams through, we just missed out on this the year before. Sadly, we don't have detail on all the matches as our reporter was looking after the A Team so didn’t get to see all the games – the A Team had a great day scoring 28 goals and conceding none. All the Thirsk girls should be incredibly proud especially as the C Team were only 1 goal away from coming third – it shows what strength in depth we have at the club and I was very proud of all of them. A special mention for York C who even though most of them hadn’t played before, kept a smile on their faces and never gave up.
So a big thank you to all the players and parents involved and now the next goal is to get the two Thirsk teams through to the North of England finals.
