Under 16 girls have no defeats on last outing for the season.

14th Feb results keep the girls in Division 1.

A lovely crisp sunny morning at Ben Rhydding, saw Thirsk U16s out for the final matches before the playoffs in March.
A very different team yet again, with the girls having never played before as a team, and the bare 11 available for the morning.
It was all about enjoying and learning from the experience, for those who haven't played much competitive hockey, and all about team spirit and sportsmanship from the whole team.
This was certainly the impression ALL the squad gave, battling hard in midfield and defence, to keep Ben Rhydding from scoring, and the forwards looking strong on the break, with a couple of shots towards the goal. Ella Durkin absolutely tormenting the opposition with her strength and skills. 0-0 was the final score and well deserved.
Leeds Adel were next on the list, and seemed to put Thirsk on the back foot early, having a lot of attacking play in the 1st 10minutes, Thirsk then settled a little and Gina, Bea and Grace fighting hard to get the ball pushed forward and Maddy, finding space on the RT to move in to and cover any ball coming out from the Adel defence. Thirsk finally getting a goal on the rebound from Gina. Unfortunately Adel managed to get the ball to the other end and get the equaliser. 1-1 final score.
York looking the stronger team of the morning, was the final match for Thirsk, and every player stepped up to the challenge, working hard, Freddie, Romey and Millie, working back to help to stop York being able to transfer the ball easily. Summer Marshall working tirelessly, tracking back and chasing down players, keeping them wide and holding them until the team could get in to help. Amelia, making some crucial stops at the top of Thirsk's defending D. But the player of the match was by far Louella, making some outstanding saves, and keeping Thirsk undefeated for the morning.0-0 final score.
A special thank you to parents for supporting the girls, the two U14s who stepped up without any problems, and to Will for his umpiring debut for the girls.
